The sock out punch

Image taken from The Image Builders

Knee high socks.

Looks like I'm not the only one who's noticed and embraced this trend. I started watching New Zealand's Next Top Model last month and I've noticed that the lovely contestants on the show have been rocking this trend. To be honest, it seems like Glassons in NZ is a lot nicer than Glassons in Australia. I think the models wear Glassons during their big deliberation with Sara. Maybe it's the way it's styled (or maybe they're not even wearing Glassons), but it looks like they're wearing Forever New more so than Glassons. If anyone has any info about this, let me know.

Anyway, so I've been wearing knee high socks of late and after watching the newest episode of Pretty Little Liars and noticing practically everyone wearing knee high socks with cute skirts and dresses, I felt compelled to point this out on the ol' blog. And I'm not the only one that's noticed this trend. My partner has also pointed out to me that he's noticed a lot of women have been wearing them too. I'm not surprised. It's easily one of the cheapest and most comfortable ways of staying "on trend" or whatever.

Cheap Thrills

At Susie's picnic 21st, Fraser and Erin were trying to fly a kite. I think this is a lovely picture, despite the colours being a bit shit. It was a wonderful picnic, drinking cider and champagne while nibbling on quiche, chicken wings, grain waves and cup cakes. YUM!

My new clogs! Yes, I've succumbed to the clog trend, albeit later than everyone else. I got them online so they were about $33 including shipping! WOO!

New earrings from Sportsgirl. I saw them online and when I went into the store to buy the they were reduced from $14.95 to $7.95, then found out that they actually a bit over $6 because there was an additional 20% off them! Rock and roll!

You ain't never gonna change

I have foolishly, foolishly imposed a "no new clothes for two months" ban on myself after buying a new dress and denim shorts today. I then foolishly went on the Sportsgirl website and I see so many things I want, although it's not the clothes I want, just some accessories. They have these leopard print stockings that I want desperately want. Plus these gems:

Anyway, I guess I'll have to wait maybe two weeks or something. These are the shorts I got today from General Pants co:

I saw this top and I thought about trying it on but judging by the price tag ($69.95), I thought I'd stop myself.

I hope my fat ass can hustle up some gatorade... whatever that means

Oh man this year is going to be FIERCE!

During my trip to Singapore and Malaysia I've had smalls bursts of inspiration to do all sorts of things. First semester, I am going to do a screenwriting course. I hope it will help improve my script writing ability, and possibly help me churn out some awesome ideas for a script. At the moment, I want to write a zombie comedy (zombcom?). I don't know what the story line is going to be, but I have a few characters that I definitely want to use. I need to nut this out a bit more, but hopefully, it turns out to be awesome.

Another thing I want to pursue is documentary. After producing/directing one for uni, I feel like I really want to do it. There is so much in our world, so many stories that need to be told or information that needs to get out there. After going to Malaysia and immersing myself with all sorts of people, I really want to make documentaries that explore culture and people, possibly geared in the direction of death, like funerals and mourning. It's all very vague right now, but I have a team already confirmed and willing to help me, so I'm feeling very inspired.

This then leads to work placement. I officially cannot graduate until I complete 80 hours of work in my field. This desire to make documentaries makes me want to crew for doco makers, learn how the professionals do it, plus just see what other stories people are interested in and learn about how to film under pressure.

Now onto a totally different topic, I am soooo going to wear lipstick this year. I bought this baby in Malaysia:

It's anna sui, number 350 in the matte version. I think it's awesome and looks good on me (the photo doesn't do the lipstick any favours). I'm very excited about this.

So yeah. 2010 is going to be FIERCE!!

sorry, bro....

Day off today. I have sweet sweet things planned: dog walking, making dinner while I watch Black Books, clean my room while I day dream about Singapore. I only realised today that I'm going to be overseas next Tuesday. It's so exciting! I'm incredibly pumped. I have already written up my to-bring list. It's much longer than what I would like it to be, but that's all right. I'm most excited about finally stepping into a Topshop. I probably won't be able to afford it but I can buy accessories and hosiery. I've seen their stockings: I want everything. This is going to be awesome-oh!

Oh by the way, trivia night tomorrow. We are going to WIN! I'm pumped as!

What would Charlotte wear?

I bought a new skirt and new shorts from Dangerfield. I love that store so much. If I had a $1000 I'd buy so many things from there! My only qualm with them is that their sizes are rather small and some clothes are cut weirdly.

I'm trying to decide what to wear to trivia night tonight. I want to look the part so I've decided that my nerd glasses from Dangerfield is a MUST WEAR. So here are some of my options:

Oh I forgot to mention that I am at present testing out high-waisted shorts. I've never done them before so I'm a bit nervous about it. However, I feel like I look all right in these shorts. These shorts are from Dangerfield: $78, I got the T-shirt from my best friend for my birthday, and the shoes are from Myer. They're the only shoes I have in my room and I don't like wearing shoes on carpet so I don't bring shoes up there to try on in front of a mirror.

I like this better, because it's like... I'm wearing a jumpsuit. The singlet is from Cotton On and the vest is Princess Highway, also from Dangerfield. It's so beautiful. It's like a sequined vest. I love it but it's hard to wear. At the moment, I've been able to find things to go with the vest, so that's exciting.

New skirt, from Dangerfield: $48. I love this skirt because it's not too short and it's a breezy sort of fabric, which will be awesome for when I go to Singapore. Unfortunately, I can't wear it because the store forgot to take the security tag off it so I'm going to have to go back to the store to get them to take it off.

I think I'm gonna go for option number two and wear a really statement-y necklace and bracelets. I'm so pumped!

The moment you're returning, I'm glad

I went around the city for a mild shopping trip. There were a few essential things I had to do, like buy my monthly bus ticket ($84.50) and an iPhone cover. I didn't end up finding an iPhone cover. I just don't think the ones they had are good enough. I also have a pair of shoes I wanted to exchange. My friend Cassie bought them for me as a joke (an expensive joke too. They're $99.95!!) and I have received the OK to get them exchanged. I got a credit note and I'm so excited. I have to say, Wittner shoes is like my favourite shoe store but it's always so expensive to I always like when I can afford something.

I wanted to get an exchange for these shoes, but I couldn't find any in the store, so I'm just going to have to hold onto the credit note until something like this pops up:

There were these boots that I saw that I really like but it's getting so warm now that it seems utterly pointless buy them, despite their loveliness:

Anyway, I bought some suspenders for my friend Liane's nerd party. The theme is to dress as nerds and glasses are a prerequisite. I already wear glasses so that's awesome. Although, I did go into Dangerfield today and was massively tempted to buy some of those nerd glasses that have no prescriptions but I decided not to. I'm going to get my eyes checked for some contacts on Wednesday and afterwards I'm going to go to Clear It so I think I will go there and get some. I did buy a straw hat ($24) from Dangerfield and some suspenders ($20) from this sock store. I don't have pictures right now and I can't really be bothered taking any photos just yet because it's waaaaay too hot to move. I've just realised that I've been buying accessories. That's a huge deal for me because I'm not much of an accessory person so the hat and suspenders is quite a lot.

I also went into Cotton On and came out feeling massively depressed. I just felt like I looked epically fat. But then again, I was trying on harem pants. I wanted to buy these really cute floral ones from Cotton On Body but I just looked like a tank of fat! Well, actually, I did feel that the harem pants flattered my ankles, but that was it. Anyway, I just want to say that I will be losing some weight. But I will NOT be joining a fucking gym. I want to look good for Singapore. Plus, I heard their sizes are tiny so I'm keen for a bit of fat trimming.

I'll post up my buys a little later. Right now, I'm getting ready to edit some stuff.
